New Passport Regulations for Air Arrivals to remain in effect for January 8th, 2007
|
|
This is like watching a tennis match. Your head goes back and forth, watching and waiting to see what the next directive will be regarding US Citizens getting back into the United States.
The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, passed by Congress on Sept. 29, which granted a reprieve to cruise passengers but not to air travelers. The amendment delays the implementation of the new passport requirements until June 1, 2009 for land crossings at the Mexico and Canada borders and for cruise passengers coming to the U.S. from the Caribbean, Mexico, Canada or Bermuda. Congress remained silent on the air portion of the WHTI, so the implementation date of Jan. 8, 2007 remains in place meaning any U.S. citizen entering or returning by air to the U.S. on or after that date needs a valid passport. In simplest terms, travelers to the U.S. by land and sea will need a valid passport by June 2009, 20 months away. Those traveling by air will need a passport by Jan. 8, 2007, two months from now

Fall Fantasea In Full Swing!
Pirate's Week Added Value! |
Sunset House offers its Fall Fantasea package from September 5th - November 19th, 2006. (This includes "Pirates Week" Festival) Package includes accommodations, boat diving, unlimited shore diving, daily breakfast, airport transfers, tax and service charges. An enormous deal backed by Sunset's Hurricane Protection Plan. |
|
Pirate's Week includes music, street dances, costumes, games, food and drink, "pirate invasion", Kids Day, glittering parade, sports events, Heritage Days, fireworks! It's 11 fun-filled, festive days in the sun with something for everyone, and a lot of it FREE!
First it's fireworks, followed by a local song contest and then, almost every day for 11 days, Caribbean rhythms pulsate in open-air street dances until the wee hours of the morning. An authentic slice of the native Caribbean!
A mock "pirate invasion" from the sea! Two old-time sailing vessels, loaded with "pirates" make a Saturday surprise landing at the bowl-shaped George Town harbour, as thousands line the streets to take part in the spectacle or just watch. It's good-natured fun, there's a new twist every year, and families just love it. It's the only event of its kind in the Caribbean region.
This year's Pirates Week National Festival will have an individual costume competition as its new feature and it is open to visitors and residents. Entrants will compete for the best individual pirate costume in three categories (adult, junior and tiny tots) with first prize $100 and second prize $50 in each case.
The event will take place at 6:30 pm at the South Terminal on Harbour Drive, in advance of the fireworks show, on Friday, 10 November. Persons wishing to enter the competition can register in advance at the Pirates Week Office, 10 Shedden Road, or can simply show up at 6:00 pm on Friday, 10 November at the South Terminal bandstand.

Guest Comments
I want to commend the management of Sunset House on an outstanding operation. Having returned yesterday from a brief vacation with my family we throughly enjoyed our stay at Sunset House.Vertually everyone we dealt with was pleasant and helpful, food was good and the bar and staff terrific. I particularly would like to commend Mike for the diving operation. Staff was competant and good humored, equipment was good quality and well maintained; boats ran on time and very professionally handled. I've dived long enough to know that good moral flows from the top and dictates the diving experiance and ours was great. Keep up the good work and we look forward to visiting with you again.
