 Captain's Log
(In this section every month, Dive Operations Manager Mike Pinnington will keep us up to date with Sunset Diver's adventures.)

While other operators are starting to slow down we on the hand continue to have consistent numbers coming through the resort. The water temp has increased to a comfortable 83 degrees and we are starting to see a lot more action on the reef. Love is in the air and there's plenty of mating going on right now. Reports at Stingray City also confirm that the rays are breeding. They can be seen mating in on the flats in and around Stingray City. Turtles are active also with some interesting stories coming in from the deeper sites.

Professional Diver Training from Kelowna (Southern interior of British Columbia) was here for a month to escape the Canadian cold. This great vocational program visits twice a year and we try and hire someone from the group each time. This year we chose Jacky who you will meet in the near future. She'll bring an unbridled enthusiasm to the team and will fit in very well. This is the same organization that Meghan came from so we know were getting quality staff.

We have had some great group business with repeat guests being the order of the day. The Los Angeles Black Underwater Explorer's were here last month and all agreed the diving and the service was wonderful.

Right now we have Dolphin Aquatics here with a small group of 10 - Fantastic people from Alabama led by Walt McGregor.  It is a pleasure to have him back once again. Also in right now a new group from Florida- the Scuba Club goes on a host of trips around the globe and 16 of its members chose Sunset House. They have a boat to themselves and if last night was anything to go back they sure have a lot of fun on their trips.

Meet the Staff!

(Each month, this section will feature one of many amazing staff members at Sunset House!  Their stories and backgrounds are all unique and intriguing as the next!)

This month  - Freddy Frederick/ Divemaster

Freddy is a native of Denver, Colorado and most recently Baltimore, Maryland. In between however, Freddy graduated from West Point, spent time with the Special Forces the 18th Airborne and did some parachuting out of Fort Bragg. A word of caution- if you ask him he will tell you and it takes hours.!

Freddy is married to the exceptionally beautiful Liz and their desire to escape the cold and wet Maryland winters led them to Grand Cayman. At this point he was working the 9-5 with Wachovia in the commercial banking sector so it was a dream come true to escape the office environment for the life aquatic.

Guests Comments!
We had a fantastic time at The Sunset House.  I mentioned to one of the desk clerks that the check in process for all 27 of us was as smooth as any we have had...and this was our 11th club trip.  From that moment on, everything either met or exceeded our expectations!  The hotel staff was very courteous and efficient.  The food was very tasty and I heard of no one going hungry at any of the meals.
Many of us have been to the Caymans several times and have always been impressed with the diving, so it came as no surprise that we had great diving experiences.  The dive staff was certainly to be commended.  They did everything they could to make our diving very memorable.  The shore diving at the Sunset House really distinguishes your hotel from all the others.  We had a lot of fun simply jumping in whenever we felt like it and exploring the nearby wall, wreck and mermaid.
All in all...a job well done!
Thanks for everything and we will definitely be back...

And from a guest who just returned from this year's Total Submersion..

All,
Just a long overdue note to thank you for making Total Sub 2006 such a hit.  I know it takes a ton of work to make everything come off so smoothly and I will tell you how much I appreciated all that you did.  That was one of the best vacations I have ever had and I am thrilled to sign up for next year's event.  (And one in the Fall/Winter if I can escape.)    The place was terrific, people outstanding and diving was truly spectacular.  I have bragged about it to the point my friends are about ready to disown me!  Thanks again for all of you hard work, what a great week.
Best,
Shawn Gager
