So... Where Do We Hide the Boats During a Hurricane?
2008-12-03 @ 07:19:38
Welcome to "Hurricane Hole"! Located in the Southeast corner of the North Sound, Hurricane Hole is the envy of all boat owners during a hurricane. Owner Adrien Briggs and his cousin Atlee Bodden purchased this land originally developed for the start of a housing project years ago. Its purposes today, are to house all of Adrien's and Attlee's marine interests during hurricane situations.

Hurricane Hole houses the boats of Sunset House, Red Sail Sports and Caribbean Marine Services. The "Hole" is managed by the staff of Sunset Divers. Below the surface; there are 3 large lengths of cruise ship anchor chain: two going transverse across the "Hole" and one running diagonally. The staff ties off one end of each boat below on the chain (which each link weights 50 pounds) and the other to shore. So no matter the storm surge, the boats are allowed to give, but not break.

Notice what the storm surge would have to navigate to directly effect the boats? A canal heading to the south, then to the northeast, then back south.
