What a Summer!!!!

May was an exceptionally good month for Sunset Divers. We broke all previous records and even more amazing was the fact that June beat May. The dive staff are very pleased with them selves after this great accomplishment. Sunset Diverts wouldn’t enjoy this success if it weren’t for the dive team so a very big thank you to them. Keep up the good work.
We had some pretty busy group business with high numbers from Dive2Survive, Dolphin Aquatics and long time friends Pan Aqua from New York. Everybody was suitably spoiled and vowed to return. One of the high lights was French photographer Claude Ruff. He takes amazing images and he donated one of his classic submarine prints to us for display. Once framed it will be in the lobby for all to enjoy.

E-Learning has arrived at Sunset Divers. Check out the link on the web page and see how easy it is to get certified utilizing this great tool. In 3 days you could experience some of the finest diving in the world.

E-Learning

Pete just finished an Advanced Weekend with some of our recent Open Water students. Perfect weather for the students with some exceptional boat diving. MikeB helped out and we look forward to seeing the team on the next Rescue Course.

Our next IDC will begin on November 27th this year. Now is the time to start studying hard and make your booking. Dave Hinman from Rome, New York will be conducting the program. He brings with him a 100% pass rate so it’s a logical choice to come to the Sunset House to complete your instructor training. There will be great rates for accommodation which will be released next month. One of the reasons we have such a great success rate is the convenient stress-free location. Once again we will be offering free boat dives for the candidates and additional academic workshops and skill development sessions. Spaces will fill fast so book early!

In the peak of summer we explore a little further south and now that we have 3 fast v-hulls we can get there comfortably. Hole in the Wall has been yielding excellent results and is everybody’s favorite. So ask the Captain for this site when you next visit, you wont be disappointed. Were seeing the usual shark sightings on the reef along with a very large nurse shark that is resident on the house reef now. Shoaling squid and some very sizeable Hawksbill Turtle make for exciting opportunities for everybody diving in the “back yard.”

Our new edition is Emma Garner from England, read her full bio and introduction on the front page. We are lucky to attract remarkable people who do a remarkable job. Emma is no exception. Tom has left and is somewhere in deepest Milton Keynes (an outstanding resort town.) though we are reliably informed the Big Fella will be back on our shores for Christmas.

In an attempt to protect the southern stingray colony at Stingray City a number of permanent moorings will be introduced by The Department of Environment. Boat licensing and specific amounts of food will also be implemented. Any new legislation is welcomed and Sunset Divers will adhere to the rules at all times. We support the decision wholeheartedly.

Thanks to everybody who sent cards and best wishes after our wedding. Sue and I had a great time in Kodiak and we urge everyone to go there should you get the chance. (After you have visited us that is…) A very special thanks to Lon & Cindy at the Captains Quarters and Marty and Marion on the Sea Breeze- we couldn’t have done it without you.

Anyone who lives in Switzerland be aware- Freddy is coming- next week! In keeping with Freddy’s work ethic he has worked for 2 weeks and now deserves 3 weeks off…Pete is heading up to his beloved New York then onto Blackpool and MikeB is going on the Nekton Live aboard for a week. Rob is able to escape yard duties and is heading into the jungles of Honduras. A well earned break indeed. Jax has her Mom visiting and my family arrives next month. Happy times for all.

Don’t forget to check out our Summer/Fall Specials. The island is slower paced at this time of year, water has warmed to 83deg and the diving is excellent.

We look forward to welcoming you to our home, until then
Safe Diving
